Life is so fast-paced, sometimes it can be hard to catch a breath. Each day I am learning to take a moment to PAUSE and hand everything over to God. I picture Jesus standing in front of me with His hands outstretched saying, ‘give everyone and everything to me’.
Over the summer break, I had a staycation as my husband took Justin to the Victorian goldfields to do some prospecting for ten days. Before he left, Ian went to my favourite cosmetics store and bought me ten nights worth of bath bombs, what a treat! Each day I had a long bath and read John Eldredge’s ‘get your life back’, the instigator of the 1-minute PAUSE. I also went to the pool on most days ( I love water) and had coffee with friends, and it was terrific!
So, when God changed the pace of my book launch for Hope Wins, I was not surprised. One of my editors had said to me “God is never in a rush” and a week later my publisher said, “lets slow things down”. Ok, God, I get it SLOW DOWN!
I am now planning for JULY 2021 to launch Hope Wins….
In the Bible, God equates slowness with patience and His desire to see no one perish, but all come to know Him. In 2 Peter 3:9 it says;
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
This verse tells me that Peter is saying that we cannot apply human demands about time to God’s promises. God is the one who makes the schedule: He cannot be late. God keeps every promise at His perfect time and for His glory for our good. This scripture is relating to impatience for those who are awaiting Christ’s return. But we can take some principles from it for whatever we are waiting for, i.e. a book launch, baby, a restored relationship, new job etc.
– The delay is evidence of God’s kindness and patience for us.
– God is never late; His timing is perfect.
– God is not bound by time; a thousand years is like a day and vice versa.
– God is patient and merciful.
Learning to slow down and trust God is a rich and rewarding journey, and I am beginning to like it very much.
Until next time, Leisa.
