Are you in need of replenishment? Many of you reading this may feel depleted, worn out, and tired after a big year. Now is the time to take stock and evaluate your physical, mental, and spiritual health?

It may be time for some nourishing!

Our physical health can be sustained with food or nutriments; it supplies essential nutrients for life, health, and growth. Good nutrition is vital for the young, whose growing bodies are easily impaired if they lack the nutrients necessary for average growth. Whenever I was sick and felt depleted, a nourishing bowl of homemade chicken soup always hit the spot. If I think I am physically depleted I am aware that eating a healthy, nutritious diet can help to restore my health.

It is essential to listen to your body, for it can be easy to become distracted and ignore our need for nourishment. For example, the headache that comes on every day is not just because you have not had enough caffeine, it could be linked to a lack of good sleep, etc.

Or has your mental and emotional health declined due to a lack of balance in your life? The Bible says that our spirits also need nourishing, that wisdom is good for our well-being, and that it brings health and nourishment to our bones. We may feel physically well when we are mentally and spiritually well.

Proverbs 3:1-8.

1My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
2for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.
3Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
5Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight. a
7Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.
8This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.

Take some time to digest these verses in Proverbs.

– God’s commands bring peace and prosperity
– Love and faithfulness win favour and a good name
– Trusting in God makes a path straight
– Not leaning on our own wisdom, fearing the Lord is nourishing

Nourish your soul by mediating on His word, praising Him, and lifting His name high, the one who is our trustworthy source of nourishment.

Blessings,

Leisa
